Description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain operational power system models using the Network Model Management System (NMMS).
  • Collaborate with Network Data Support Working Group (NDSWG) members to support model data exchange and transmission network maintenance.
  • Review generator and transmission equipment data submitted by resource entities and coordinate corrections of invalid or incomplete model data.
  • Support and manage transmission system modeling software infrastructure, including databases, interfaces, and data export formats.
  • Develop and maintain modeling tools using C#, Java, or similar programming languages to validate transmission network data.
  • Create and manage data validation rules for operational and planning models using SQL.
  • Support and manage upgrades to NMMS and MOD applications, including reviewing system patches and assisting with server administration.
  • Provide training and mentoring to Engineering Development Program (EDP) participants.
  • Work cross-functionally with network modeling, system operations, planning, markets, resource integration, and grid applications teams.
  • Review, draft, and present updates to protocols, procedures, guides, and training materials related to power system modeling.
  • Evaluate changes to NERC standards and assess impacts on modeling methodologies.

Skills:
  • 1–2 years of experience in power system engineering or a related role.
  • Knowledge of electric utility transmission systems and power system modeling concepts.
  • Programming experience in at least one of the following: C#, Java, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and rule development (preferred).
  • Familiarity with software development and collaboration tools such as Git, Bitbucket, and Jira (preferred).
  • Understanding of power system data standards and model validation principles.

Education/Experience:
  • High School.
