Job Description

Prepress Designer / Production Designer We are looking for a

fast, detail-oriented Designer

to handle

prepress and production design

for a busy print shop. This role is mostly about

fixing files so they are ready to print , not long creative projects. About

75% of the work is prepress

(file corrections and setup) and

25% is light design

for customers who need quick, clean layouts. This position is

not

focused on: Character design, cartoons, anime, or illustration-heavy styles

Personal art projects, fan art, or entertainment-driven design

Experimental or hobby-style artwork

This is a

production environment , not a creative studio or branding agency. While creativity and good taste are important, the priority is

clear communication, strong layout, good color choices, and clean designs that work well for real-world business printing . What You’ll Do Fix customer files so they print correctly (size issues, margins, bleeds, fonts, resolution, layouts)

Set up files for printing business cards, flyers, postcards, brochures, and similar jobs

Adjust bleeds, trim, fonts, and image placement quickly and accurately

Prepare print-ready PDFs

Handle simple design requests when customers need help

Communicate with production staff and sales to keep jobs moving

Occasionally speak with customers to clarify file issues or changes

Speed, accuracy, and clarity matter more than artistic exploration. What We’re Looking For Strong prepress skills You understand paper sizes, bleeds, trim, margins, and how things actually print.

Very comfortable with dimensions You know what an inch is, what¼ inch is, and how layouts translate to real paper.

Fast and efficient You work quickly and understand that basic fixes should not take excessive time.

Good software flexibility You use the best tool for the job— not just one program for everything. Experience with PDF tools (such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, PitStop), plus InDesign and Illustrator, is a big plus.

Clean, modern design sense Your work looks current, simple, and professional— not dated or cluttered.

Clear communicator You can explain file issues simply and work well with both internal staff and customers.

Production-minded You care about getting jobs done correctly and on time, not stretching tasks unnecessarily.

What This Job Is— and Is Not This job IS: Mostly prepress and file correction

Fast-paced and deadline-driven

Focused on printing, accuracy, and efficiency

A mix of computer work and communication

This job is NOT: A creative agency or branding role

Character or cartoon-style design

A slow, concept-heavy design position

A place for long experimental design projects

A role where one software tool is used for everything

Illustration-based work

If you prefer taking a long time on designs or dislike production-focused work, this role will not be a good fit.
