Position Summary:
The FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing activities related to AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements. This role ensures all FAIRs are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. The FAIR Coordinator works cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Quality to track, prepare, and maintain FAIR documentation, ensuring product conformity and readiness for customer delivery.
What you will be doing: Track all FAIR requirements based on drawing revisions, process changes, lapses in Operations, and customer-specific requirements Monitor and manage FAIR status to ensure timely completion and submission Identify part numbers requiring Full or Delta FAIRs based on Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)Perform drawing ballooning using DISCUS and/or InspectionXpert software Ensure all drawing characteristics, notes, dimensions, and specifications are accounted for and traceable Verify completeness and accuracy of FAIR packages in accordance with AS9102 requirements Maintain organized auditable records of all FAIRs in Net-InspectEnsure documentation is readily retrievable for audits, customers, and regulatory review Communicate FAIR status to Operations, Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams Collaborate with Engineering to anticipate upcoming FAIR requirements Monitor Quality Orders and Operations queues to flag part numbers with missing or incomplete FAIRsSupport process improvements related to FAIR preparation, tracking, and compliance Assist in internal and external audits related to AS9100/AS9102 requirements
What you need to qualify: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification in a related field (Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering) preferred 2+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality assurance, or inspection Experience with AS9100 and AS9102 FAIR requirements strongly preferredFamiliarity with engineering change processes (ECR/ECN) is a plus Proficiency in balloon drawing software: DISCUS and/or InspectionXpert (required) Experience with FAIR database: Net-Inspect (preferred) Strong working knowledge of: Engineering drawings and specifications; GD First Article Inspection processes and documentationProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with ERP/MRP systems for order tracking (e.g., MS Dynamics D365, Epicor, etc.) Ability to navigate digital file management systems and databases Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Effective communication and coordination across departmentsAnalytical thinking for identifying compliance gaps and risks Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex technical drawings and specifications Understanding of manufacturing processes and inspection methods Knowledge of aerospace regulatory and customer requirements preferred
