Senior Control Systems Engineer (Cleveland, OH), Ohio

Overview
The Senior Controls Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and leading building automation projects. Responsibilities vary by project and involve leadership, system design, configuration, installation, and customer interaction.
 
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Sales Support (20%)
•    Provide technical leadership for a team of 25 engineers
•    Assign project tasks and oversee execution
•    Support change order generation by estimating hardware costs and engineering effort
•    Maintain strong client relationships
Instrumentation & Electrical Design (20%)
•    Develop instrument lists from P&ID drawings
•    Select and evaluate instrumentation (e.g., transmitters, flow meters, valve actuators)
•    Choose appropriate control hardware
•    Create panel layouts and electrical schematics
•    Prepare submittal documentation and procure project hardware
•    Provide support to panel fabrication techs and inspect completed enclosures
System Design and Configuration (30%)
•    Lead customer design reviews
•    Configure HMI screens and control algorithms (DDC, PLC, DCS)
•    Perform internal QA and functional testing
•    Draft system documentation
•    Support customer demos and acceptance tests
Onsite System Startup (30%)
•    Deploy software/configurations to site systems
•    Conduct point-to-point checks, calibration, and tuning
•    Perform functional testing and resolve installation issues
•    Support customer testing and onsite modifications
•    Train end users on system operation and maintenance
 
Qualifications
Education & Experience
•    Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or related technical degree
•    8+ years of experience in controls or automation
Technical Skills
Experience in at least one of the following platforms:
•    Rockwell: FactoryTalk Suite, RSLogix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx DCS
•    Aveva System Platform
•    Ignition & Niagara
•    Distech: BACnet/LON controllers, Eclypse Controllers
Additional technologies a plus:
•    Johnson Controls (Facility Explorer, Metasys)
•    Scripting (e.g., VBA, Python)
•    Kepware OPC, ThinManager, VMware
