Job Description

This role supports daily operations in a metal fabrication shop by performing a wide range of hands-on manufacturing tasks. You will assist skilled trades, handle materials, operate basic shop equipment, and help ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. The position suits dependable, detail-oriented individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with general manufacturing and production tasks throughout the metal fabrication shop.
  • Load, unload, and move raw materials and finished products safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic operations such as cutting, grinding, deburring, and cleaning parts.
  • Support welders, fabricators, machine operators, and other production staff as needed.
  • Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools, including grinders, drills, and saws.
  • Conduct visual inspections of parts to identify defects and verify quality standards.
  • Package, label, and stage finished products for shipment according to instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with 5S and housekeeping practices.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and production instructions at all times.
  • Complete basic production documentation and records as required.
Essential Skills
  • Experience with general production, assembly, or machine operation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate and work with hand tools such as grinders, drills, and saws.
  • Experience with packaging, packing, and staging products for shipment.
  • Ability to perform visual inspection of parts for quality and defects.
  • Capability to load, unload, and move materials and products safely.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, industrial shop environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to perform general labor tasks as needed across the production floor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a metal fabrication or welding shop.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience, or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to read basic work instructions, shop drawings, or blueprints.
  • Background in construction or related hands-on trades is a plus.
  • Comfort operating a variety of basic shop machines and equipment.

Work Environment

You will work around metal fabrication equipment, hand tools, and machinery, and spend most of the day on your feet handling materials and operating tools in an industrial environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fredericksburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
