The engineer provides radio frequency systems design, installation, maintenance and operational support for radio and pager systems at DOE facilities and repeater sites in the greater Washington, D.C. region. When required, the systems engineer will mobilize tactical radio systems for offsite utilization and/ or train DOE personnel to do so. The systems engineer servesin the function of DOE frequency manager, ensuring coordination between users at DOE authorized frequencies and maintaining NITA frequency licenses for use by departmental elements in accordance with the DOE Radio Plan. The affected radio systems at DOE/HQ include but are not limited to facilities operations, protective force, secretarial detail, OS&H emergency operations and maintenance staff networks. The engineer provides design, installation, operation and component level repair for conference audio and television systems at the Germantown, MD buildings and leased facilities in the area. The systems engineer provides documentation to support tracking and control of the utilization of DOE/HQ personnel,equipment, facility and supply resources which are required to support radio, conference audio and television systems at DOE/HQ in Germantown, MD. EXPERIENCE:• 10 years’ experience in radio frequency knowledge and programming • Responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized and able to take initiative toresolve problems and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment• Ability to read drawing, blue prints or related design diagrams • Knowledge of engineering needs to support in-house cable TV systems • Ability to plan, organize and implement to ensure the successful completion of a projectby a specific due date• Proficient in radio programming and frequency adjustments • Thorough knowledge of NTIA frequency roles, rules and regulations • Ability to differentiate between different frequencies utilized by federal agencies, local agencies and ascertain if any frequency usage will interfere with DOEowned frequencies• Responsible, self-motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized and able to take initiative to resolve problems and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Ability to plan, organize and implement to ensure the successful completion of a project by a specific due date
