Our client—a global research-driven company—is seeking a Lab Animal Technician I for a 12-month contract role in Ridgefield, CT.

Position Overview

As a Lab Animal Technician I, you will support the daily operations of a regulated animal research facility. This role is vital to ensuring the humane care and well-being of laboratory animals in compliance with federal and institutional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Perform daily animal care, including feeding, enrichment, health checks, and documentation.

Monitor and report any abnormal animal health observations.

Execute facility cleaning, cage sanitization, and maintenance of animal housing.

Operate and maintain lab equipment including autoclaves, rack washers, and environmental monitors.

Accurately document all tasks in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

Rotate through specialized colonies and support areas as needed.

Assist with training and onboarding of new team members.

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain strict biosafety standards.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

2+ years’ experience in an animal research facility or veterinary practice.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.

AALAS certification (ALAT or higher) highly desirable.

Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) preferred.

Physically able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stand for long periods, and work in PPE.

Comfortable working around small and large laboratory animals.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
