Job Title: Quality Control Inspector Job Description
The Quality Control Inspector performs receiving, in‑process, and final inspections of subassemblies and finished products, with a strong focus on transitioning to 100% inspection of all products. This role supports regulatory compliance by auditing materials, performing tests, and preparing documentation for submission to the FDA while ensuring that all inspection activities follow established SOPs, drawings, and workmanship standards.Responsibilities Perform receiving inspection on incoming materials in accordance with SOPs and applicable compliance standards. Conduct in‑process and final inspection of subassemblies and finished products to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements. Read, interpret, and follow inspection procedures, engineering drawings, sampling plans, and workmanship standards accurately.Adhere to FDA and ISO requirements, safety guidelines, and corporate policies in all inspection activities. Use measurement and test equipment such as calipers, optical comparators, and electronic test equipment to verify product dimensions and performance. Maintain accurate and complete Receiving Inspection records and enter data into computer systems in accordance with FDA documentation standards.Process nonconforming material documented on Discrepancy Reports, including proper identification, segregation, and documentation. Write general inspection procedures, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Discrepancy Reports (DRs) as needed to support quality processes. Generate reports showing inventory status and reconcile any discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments.Accurately perform Oracle system transactions to accept and deliver product, generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), and complete related system entries. Provide meaningful input to the supervisor on potential process, product, and job improvements within the quality function. Answer questions and resolve minor job-related issues in the absence of the supervisor to support smooth daily operations.Prioritize inspection activities effectively to meet production schedules and quality requirements. Participate in and contribute to group problem‑solving activities focused on process and product improvement. Support the training and development of other inspectors by sharing technical knowledge and best practices in quality control.Essential Skills
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality or Quality Control role. Demonstrated experience inspecting machined parts using appropriate tools and methods. Technical ability to perform all core jobs in Quality Control, including receiving, in‑process, and final inspection.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, inspection procedures, sampling plans, and workmanship standards. Proficiency using measurement equipment such as calipers, optical comparators, and electronic test equipment. Ability to write general inspection procedures, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Discrepancy Reports (DRs).Experience maintaining inspection records and entering data into computer systems in compliance with regulatory standards. History of providing process and product improvement suggestions to supervisors and support groups. Experience participating in group problem‑solving activities focused on quality and process improvements.Ability to prioritize inspection activities and manage workload to meet deadlines. Effective people skills to assist in training and supporting other inspectors. Basic computer literacy, including the ability to work with enterprise systems such as Oracle or similar for transactions and BOM management.Additional Skills&Qualifications
ASQ Inspection Certification or equivalent certification from a recognized quality organization (preferred, not required). Degree or certification in a technical field such as engineering, manufacturing, or a related discipline (preferred, not required). Familiarity with FDA and ISO quality system requirements and documentation practices.Experience working with BOMs and inventory status reporting in a manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, documentation, and system entries.
