We are committed to welcoming applicants and program participants of all faiths; as well as an inclusive and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, and program participants./ppPurpose Of Position:/ppA Cook at Catholic Charities:/pulliPrepares and/or directs others in all aspects of meal preparation./liliExecutes and maintains an efficient, economical and nutritious food service program for the shelter./liliReceives and supervises the food donations and makes arrangements for the storage of food products and other materials necessary to the food service operations./liliAssists with food production and presentation of daily menu items and special events./liliMonitors that only the highest standard of quality is maintained in the production of the daily meals./liliMonitors that all kitchen sanitation and safety regulations are observed at all times./liliMonitors costing of needed raw materials./liliMonitors portion control, waste and maintains appropriate levels of needed inventory./liliOversees and assists in training of volunteers/liliDrives Agency van to designated sites to pick up, load/unload and deliver food supplies./liliSupports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics./liliReflects Catholic Charities commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect./liliMaintains confidentiality of client and agency information./liliRegular and predictable attendance./liliUses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery./li/ulpOther Duties And Responsibilities:/pulliAssists the food service coordinator in negotiating competitive pricing of needed goods and services from established vendors./liliGood steward of Agency human, financial and capital resources/liliProvides support to the shelter staff as requested/liliParticipates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving./liliParticipates in staff trainings and programs as required./liliAny other tasks or duties as assigned./li/ulpRequirements:/ppQualifications:/pulliInstitutional and restaurant experience as well as a good working knowledge of commercial food preparation and production standards including sanitation safety standards./liliGood working knowledge of all commercial grade kitchen equipment./liliThe ability to be able to function independently and maintain self-sufficiency with minimal supervision./liliExpress excellent interpersonal communication skills, flexibility and willingness to shift priorities as needed./liliKnowledge of the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population./liliAbility to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base./li/ulpEducation and/or Experience:/ppHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience./ppCompensation Benefits:/ppstrongSalary:/strong $22.00.
