The role offers freedom and flexibility to work remotely or at any of AECOM's US offices.Our team provides civil and structural engineering services across market sectors including electrical transmission and distribution (OH/UG power systems and substations).
ResponsibilitiesAct as the structural lead and engineer of record for substations, switchyards and other electrical infrastructure projects (both green and brown field)Perform engineering calculations and develop analytical models for both structural steel and concrete designWork with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules and budgets for civil/structural work activitiesAssist with developing task and effort estimates for proposal supportContribute to overall business development strategy around substation and high voltage electrical infrastructureCoordinate with civil/structural design team to direct completion of engineering drawingsCollaborate in multi-discipline development of general arrangements, vendor procurement packages and similarCreate, update, and implement group-specific standardsPrepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendationsPrepare project technical specifications and contract documentsCheck and verify work prepared by peers/groupsProvide mentorship for other civil/structural engineers and contribute to department standards developmentOccasional travel to other AECOM locations and client sites may be requiredQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field plus at least 6 years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationExperience in structural design for overhead and underground transmission and distribution systemsExperience with substation projectsProfessional Engineering Licensure (PE)Preferred Qualifications10 years of experience preferred, with at least 3 years as structural engineering lead or engineer of record on projectsComprehensive understanding of industry codes and standards (e.g., NESC, G.O.95, ASCE 113, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, IEEE 605, IEEE 693, AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, ACI 318, RUS, ASCE design guidelines, NEC)Experience participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teamsExperience executing work in 3D model environmentsProgressive professional experience in the modeling, analysis and design of steel structures and foundationsExperience with various voltage levels (4kV, 12kV, 138kV, 230kV, 500kV, etc.)Proficiency in PLS-CADD packages (PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole)Experience with structural analysis and design software (e.g., Staad.PRO, SAP****, MFAD, L-Pile)Experience working with remote teamsExperience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finishExperience with retrofit or brown field projectsAdditional InformationRelocation assistance is not available for this roleSponsorship is available for this roleAs an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in your potential and are here to help you achieve it.
