Description

Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the full accounts payable function, managing a team of five AP Clerks, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor payments.
This role will lead process improvements, develop scalable procedures and internal controls, and partner cross-functionally with accounting, procurement, and operations teams to support the company's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of five Accounts Payable Clerks
Oversee daily AP operations including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor payments
Build and improve accounts payable processes, procedures, and internal controls
Ensure timely and accurate processing of high-volume invoices and payments
Monitor workflow efficiency and implement process improvements and automation initiatives
Review vendor reconciliations and resolve escalated discrepancies or payment issues
Partner with accounting leadership on month-end close, accruals, and audit support
Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and payment terms
Develop reporting and metrics related to AP performance, aging, and cash flow
Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to streamline purchasing and payment processes
Assist with ERP system enhancements, implementations, or upgrades
Establish and document standard operating procedures for the AP department
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of progressive accounts payable experience
Prior leadership or supervisory experience managing AP staff
Strong understanding of AP processes, controls, and best practices
Experience building or improving accounting processes and procedures
Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
Preferred Experience
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-location environments
ERP system experience such as SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Oracle
Experience leading process improvement or automation initiatives
