Code Enforcement Officer Opportunity
BPR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced and certified Code Enforcement Officer to join our growing team and support our municipal clients. This is a temporary position anticipated to last 3–4 months. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with municipal codes and ordinances relating to zoning, property maintenance, building safety, signage, and other regulations. The officer will conduct field inspections, investigate complaints, and take appropriate enforcement actions to resolve violations.Essential Duties: Investigate reports of code violations related to property maintenance, zoning, signage, and other local ordinances. Conduct field inspections of residential, commercial, and public properties. Issue notices of violation, citations, and other enforcement actions as needed. Educate property owners, tenants, and businesses about code requirements and compliance methods.Maintain accurate records of inspections, complaints, violations, and enforcement actions. Prepare and present cases in administrative hearings or court, when necessary. Work collaboratively with other city departments, law enforcement, and legal counsel. Respond to public inquiries and provide information regarding code enforcement procedures and ordinances.Monitor and follow up on compliance deadlines and abatement progress. Stay updated on changes to applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in code enforcement. Knowledge of local zoning ordinances, building codes, and property maintenance regulations.Strong investigative, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations, and legal documents accurately. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing and case management systems. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.Certification Requirements: Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer (e.g., through ICC or state agency) preferred Must possess PC 832 Certification from an accredited college or law enforcement agency.
