Job Title: Medical Administrative Assistant
Job Summary
The Medical Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to healthcare providers, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations within a medical office or healthcare facility. This role is responsible for managing patient communications, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, and supporting clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients in a professional and courteous manner
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
Answer and manage incoming phone calls, emails, and other communications
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Verify patient insurance information and process billing or referrals as needed
Prepare and organize documentation for patient visits, procedures, and follow-ups
Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical history and required forms
Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and external healthcare partners
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and office policies
Support general administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry
Qualifications&Skills
High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or certification in medical administration preferred)
Previous administrative or healthcare experience preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Problem-solving mindset and ability to prioritize tasks

Work Environment

May require extended hours, weekends, or shifts depending on the setting
