Job Description
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely loading, unloading, and shipping products in a fast-paced food manufacturing warehouse environment.
This role ensures all orders are accurate, properly documented, and meet strict quality and food safety standards while supporting both warehouse operations and production lines.
Responsibilities
Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments using forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
Verify shipment quantities and product quality against documentation and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
Complete all required shipping and receiving paperwork, including bills of lading and invoices, accurately and on time.
Pick, stage, and load finished products onto trucks according to shipping schedules and customer requirements.
Store materials and finished goods in designated warehouse locations in an organized and safe manner.
Supply raw materials such as corn and flour to production lines to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Package products for shipping, including shrink wrapping, labeling, boxing, and palletizing materials as required.
Safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts and other material handling equipment to move products, pallets, and materials throughout the facility.
Perform pre-operational and routine equipment checks on forklifts and related equipment and report any maintenance needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in all warehouse and loading dock zones.
Track inventory and shipments, ensuring accurate counts and timely updates to inventory records.
Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards.
Maintain accurate records and counts for inventory, shipments, and materials movement.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), OSHA regulations, and all site-specific food safety rules.
Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures at all times.
Regularly clean equipment, storage areas, and warehouse spaces to support sanitation and food safety requirements.
Handle materials and pallets safely and efficiently to minimize product damage and ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Essential Skills
Proven forklift operating experience, with at least 1 year of experience preferred.
Ability to safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts in a busy warehouse environment.
Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and verifying shipments.
Strong material handling skills, including palletizing, staging, and organizing products and materials.
Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and to work on your feet for extended periods.
Knowledge of warehouse operations and basic warehouse safety practices.
Understanding of food safety practices, including GMP and HACCP principles, in a food manufacturing or similar environment.
Ability to follow OSHA and site-specific safety procedures and consistently use required PPE.
Attention to detail for verifying quantities, inspecting product quality, and maintaining accurate records.
Basic recordkeeping skills to track inventory, shipments, and material movements.
High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience working in a food manufacturing or food warehouse environment.
Familiarity with inventory tracking and basic warehouse management processes.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage areas and accurate inventory.
Comfort with routine equipment inspections and reporting maintenance needs.
Commitment to cleanliness and sanitation in support of food safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $***** - $*****/hr.
