Position Overview
The
Early Childhood Program Assistant
supports the classroom teaching team and helps create a calm, engaging, and respectful learning environment. This is a part-time, academic-year position ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and values collaboration, observation, and thoughtful guidance. In this role, you will assist children in developing independence, concentration, coordination, organization, and social skills-core goals of the Montessori approach. You will also contribute positively to the broader school community through teamwork and communication.
What You'll Do
• Support classroom activities and daily routines • Observe and respond to the needs of individual children and small groups • Help maintain an organized, respectful, and safe environment • Model and encourage kindness, self-control, and responsibility • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and school leadership • Collaborate with colleagues across program levels
Ideal Candidate
You are someone who:• Enjoys working with young children and understands their developmental needs • Is observant, organized, and attentive to detail • Communicates clearly and professionally • Works well as part of a collaborative team • Has a positive, flexible, and "can-do" attitude • Is interested in continued learning and professional growth
Qualifications
• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred • Two or more years of classroom experience preferred • Commitment to best practices in education and meeting the needs of each child • Ability to meet Washington State DCYF requirements (preferred; training may be provided for theright candidate), including: o Background check o TB test o Child Care Basics o First Aid/CPR o Bloodborne pathogens training
