About the Role Join a high‑tempo Navy ship repair team supporting corrosion control, preservation, and industrial marine work aboard active vessels. This position is hands‑on, physical, and essential to maintaining fleet readiness. You’ll prep, preserve, and coat shipboard structures to NAVSEA standards while working alongside experienced marine technicians in a fast‑paced shipyard environment.What You’ll Do Perform marine painting on ship structures, components, and compartments to NAVSEA requirements. Prep surfaces using sanding, grinding, chipping, needle‑gunning, masking, and cleaning. Assist with coating application including mixing, handling, and applying primers and preservation materials.Work in tanks, bilges, voids and other confined spaces following strict safety and watchstander procedures. Support material handling and movement of tools, equipment, and supplies across ship and pier areas. Operate lifts or forklifts if qualified. Maintain clean, safe work areas by removing debris, masking, and spent materials.What You Bring Marine or shipyard painting experience preferred. Hands‑on preservation skills including sanding, grinding, masking, and touch‑ups. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. Experience in ship repair, industrial, or manufacturing environments. Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and use pneumatic/electric tools.Strong reliability and communication to support mission‑critical Navy schedules. Willingness to work overtime/weekends as project demands require. The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
