Starting Wage: $19.05/Hr

Summary

The Shingle Crew Member assists in all aspects of installing roofing materials while working in a controlled environment.

 

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Installs roofing materials within a controlled environment

Utilize tools such as shingle knives, nail guns and shears

Installs vents, roof jacks, roof edge flashing and shingles

Identifies materials needed using the purchase order

Installs protective dome for flat top homes for storage and transportation purposes

Prepares flashing for loose shipping and install on homes

Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements

Works in a safe manner and follows all safety policies including wearing correct PPE such as safety harness and glasses

May be cross trained into other departments to ensure job knowledge progression and a balanced work force

Performs various other job duties as assigned and needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The performance of this position requires occasional exposure to the manufacturing areas where the use of safety glasses is required, and the use of hearing protection may be required.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The position lifts heavy objects up to 80 pounds, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor in a climate-controlled environment. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evening work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Travel

Travel is primarily not expected in this role, although some out-of-area travel may be expected.

 

Experience

 

Previous construction or carpentry experience preferred

Basic tool knowledge

Ability to work from at heights up to 14 feet

Ability to lift 80 pounds

Ability to take accurate measurements

Ability to read technical documents and drawings

Must poses a strong attention to detail in completing work tasks

Ability to work within a team or independently as needed

 

Education

High school diploma or Equivalent required.
