Job Title: CDL Flatbed Driver and Yard Forklift Operator Job Description
This role combines professional CDL driving with hands-on yard and material handling responsibilities in an outdoor, industrial environment. You will safely secure, transport, and deliver steel and rebar products using flatbed trucks while also operating forklifts and overhead cranes to load, unload, and move materials in the yard and at job sites. The position requires consistent attention to safety, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to work outdoors year-round.Responsibilities
Secure and inspect loads prior to each trip to ensure safe and compliant transport. Deliver steel, rebar, and related building materials using flatbed trucks to job sites and other designated locations. Operate sit-down forklifts to load and unload trucks, railcars, and yard vehicles with steel and rebar products.Stage and move trucks in the yard for the next delivery using yard dog or similar equipment as needed. Unload train cars and load semi-trailers with steel and rebar in a safe and efficient manner. Use overhead cranes to lift, move, and position steel products as required. Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including scanning, verifying, and documenting incoming and outgoing materials.Maintain accurate records for product deliveries, maintenance, mileage, and other required documentation. Handle general labor and material handling duties such as loading, unloading, and organizing building materials in the yard. Work outdoors year-round, moving and organizing steel and rebar to support manufacturing, construction, and shipping operations.Follow all safety procedures and company policies while operating industrial forklifts, overhead cranes, and other equipment. Collaborate with yard, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Essential Skills
Valid CDL with current medical card. Minimum 3 years of CDL driving experience. At least 1 year of forklift operating experience, preferably with sit-down industrial forklifts. Demonstrated experience handling steel and rebar products. Experience operating overhead cranes in an industrial or yard environment.Proven ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions year-round. Ability to lift 50+ pounds consistently throughout the day. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and material handling. Ability to safely operate flatbed trucks, yard vehicles, and related equipment.Strong attention to safety, load security, and equipment inspection. Ability to maintain accurate records for deliveries, maintenance, and mileage. Additional Skills&Qualifications
Experience working with construction materials such as steel, rebar, and other building materials. Background in industrial, manufacturing, or construction yard environments. Experience unloading railcars and loading semi-trailers. Familiarity with yard dog or yard jockey operations.
