Duties

Help

Perform preliminary, in-progress, and final technical inspection of assigned construction contract work including the larger andmore complex projects for which the DPW has responsibility. Conduct pre-final and final inspections to determine compliance with all provisions of contract. Establish and maintain the official COR record file for the project, recording facts concerning work activity, work force, equipment in use, progress payments, correspondence, contract changes, directives, etc.Provide technical inspection support for major construction projects. Interpret plans and specifications, discuss proposed changes, matters relative to adequacy of equipment and labor skills, work stoppages and lags in construction. Requirements

Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing preliminary, in-progress, and/or final technical inspections for high-value assigned projects; AND 2) Interpreting plans, specifications, and building codes to determine contractor compliance; AND 3) Maintaining daily and/or monthly construction logs and related documentation for tracking purposes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Compliance Project Management Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
