Adjunct Instructors Needed For Economics Classes
Grand Rapids Community College department of Social Sciences is seeking to develop a pool of adjunct instructors able to teach economics classes during the fall and/or winter semesters and at our Grand Rapids and/or Lakeshore campuses. Ideal candidates will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students.Adjunct needs are determined on a semester by semester basis, as are the number of sections offered each semester. GRCC classes are held at a variety of times: Monday through Saturday, locations: main campus, lakeshore,&middle college partners, and modalities: in-person, online, hybrid,&virtual. For semester start and end dates, please see GRCC's academic calendar. Essential functions include teaching GRCC course offerings in economics, fostering a stimulating classroom environment, following syllabus templates, maintaining accurate student records, responding to communications promptly, and complying with GRCC policies and the faculty association contract.Job specifications include a master's degree in economics or closely related field from an accredited institution, teaching experience at a community college preferred. Skills include expertise in the subject area with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse student populations and faculty, proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems, and excellent written and oral communication skills.Physical demands include some evening work and the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Mental demands include appreciation and understanding for the community college philosophy, commitment to diversity, community service, strong initiative, problem-solving, high energy and enthusiasm for supporting students and colleagues under pressure, and the ability to handle sensitive or difficult situations in a professional manner.Working conditions include the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that calls for flexibility and adaptability. GRCC will comply with any mandated health and safety requirements.
