Position Description:
Faculty position with teaching responsibilities for a full range of Speech Communications courses. Instructor will also participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of all courses taught within the area and contribute to ongoing improvement of program curricula.
Position Responsibilities:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Lead, direct, and teach lecture and laboratory portions of courses in Speech Communications. Teaching load determined by the Faculty Council Master Agreement. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students.Evaluate student progress through examinations, quizzes, observations and laboratory reports. Be available for individual student academic advising and/or consultation as required by the Faculty Master Agreement. Perform all preparation requirements for laboratory exercises. Develop new courses and update courses within the program including catalog description and course outlines as directed.Budget for and order supplies and equipment necessary for lecture and laboratory courses assigned. Maintain weekly office hours on campus to assist students as required by the Faculty Council Master Agreement for assisting students. Utilize college technologies for communication, course management, and assessment.Participate in college committee work, co-curricular activities, outreach projects and program advisory committee activities. Participate in curriculum development, revisions and evaluation activities. Maintain a high level of professional and academic competency by participation in professional development activities.Work with the college admissions office to recruit students to the program. Assist with job placement efforts for students. Presence on the job is an employee's fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required. Other duties as assigned by Department Chairperson and the Vice President for Instruction according to the terms of the Faculty Master Agreement.Position Requirements
Position Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Speech Communications or related area with at least 18 graduate credits in communication, interpersonal communication, public speaking, business and professional speaking rather than mass communication. Minimum of two years of teaching experience in Speech Communications or related area at the college level required.Teaching experience using computer applications such as online instruction, Blackboard, and etc. highly desirable. Qualifications, ability and desire to teach courses outside of Speech Communications preferred.
