We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role will lead core accounting operations, support sound financial decision-making, and help maintain strong fiscal stewardship across the organization. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in accounting, strong communication skills, and the ability to present financial information clearly to leadership and the board.GREAT BENEFITS!

Responsibilities:• Oversee daily accounting activities and ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with applicable standards. • Prepare timely financial statements, management reports, and supporting analysis to guide organizational planning and performance monitoring.• Present financial results and key updates to executive leadership and the board in a clear and thorough manner. • Supervise and support accounting staff, providing direction, review, and coaching to promote effective team performance. • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and review of general ledger activity.• Help strengthen internal controls, documentation practices, and financial procedures to support compliance and operational efficiency. • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting activities in partnership with organizational leaders and monitor results against approved plans.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including work in a Controller or senior-level accounting capacity. (CPA nice to have) • Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff. • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to share financial information effectively with board members and leadership.• Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger management, and accounting close processes. • Ability to organize, review, and maintain financial and supporting documentation with a high level of accuracy. • Experience working in a nonprofit environment is helpful but not required.
