Job Title: General Laborer - 1st Shift Job Description

This position involves working as a winder, where you will handle rolls coming down the line by removing them from the conveyor belt and stacking them accordingly. You will assist in the lacing, starting, and stopping of the machine to ensure proper production flow and maintain correct line speed. Additionally, you will inspect, repair, and stage rolls for production, which includes preparing them by removing 'busted' edges and sanding the wheel grind. You will also be responsible for recording necessary information about dry felt rolls used during the shift and documenting paper breaks and machine downtime.Responsibilities

Remove rolls from the conveyor belt and stack them as needed. Assist with the lacing, starting, and stopping of machines. Maintain correct line speed for production efficiency. Inspect, repair, and stage rolls for production use. Prepare rolls by removing defective edges and sanding. Record all relevant information for dry felt rolls used during the shift.Document any paper breaks and machine downtime on the Lost Productivity Record. Essential Skills

Experience with machine operation and handling power tools. Proficiency in general labor tasks such as roofing and construction. Ability to work efficiently in a production environment. Additional Skills&Qualifications

Work Environment Work in a manufacturing environment with running machines and forklifts, where roofing materials are produced. The facility can emit a strong asphalt smell and is not climate-controlled, leading to hot conditions during the summer. The work schedule includes Monday from 10am-6pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6am-6pm, Thursday from 6am-2pm, and Friday from 7am-3pm during the winter shutdown period. Meal and break times vary based on shift duration, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch for 12-hour shifts, and one 15-minute break with a 30-minute lunch for 8-hour days.Job Type&Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.
