The Production Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations on the production floor, ensuring jobs move efficiently through the manufacturing process and are completed on time. This role plans and schedules workloads, coordinates closely with production leads and support groups, and serves as the primary point of contact for operational issues. The Production Supervisor also supports hiring, training, and development of team members, maintains an organized and clean production environment, and contributes to continuous improvement of processes, materials, and equipment.Responsibilities include: Review production schedules, material requirements, and manpower needs to ensure resources align with demand. Schedule workloads in collaboration with Production Leads for each individual work center. Monitor the flow of jobs through the production process to support on-time delivery wherever possible.Inform employees of production and material issues and coordinate with support groups to resolve problems affecting schedules. Participate in establishing and modifying operational methods and processes by recommending improvements to materials, equipment, and procedures. Collaborate with the Production Manager on decisions related to employee hiring, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline.Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall order of the production department. Onboard new employees and assist with their training to ensure they understand processes, standards, and expectations. Maintain the tool crib and crimper cabinet, ensuring tools and equipment are available, organized, and in good condition.Perform monthly duties such as updating the Loctite log, collecting 5S information from work cell leads, and updating the skills matrix. Maintain production supplies and prepare Requests for Purchase (RFPs) as needed to keep materials and consumables adequately stocked. Perform other duties as required, such as replacing old bench mats and supporting general maintenance of the production area.Work as an active member of the management team and cooperate fully with the Production Manager to meet established goals. Respond rapidly to an ever-changing job shop environment to ensure maximum utilization of personnel and other resources. Serve as the first line of contact for all operational issues on the production floor, providing guidance and support to team members.Support and assist in supervision of production staff once fully up to speed in the role. Essential skills include: 35 years of prior experience as a supervisor or production lead in a manufacturing or assembly environment. Hands-on experience in assembly and/or test departments, particularly in electro-mechanical assembly.Ability to read and work from schematics and follow detailed assembly instructions. Experience with electrical assembly, including soldering and inspection activities. Proficiency in using hand tools and working with mechanical components. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with team members, management, and support groups.Prior leadership experience with responsibility for coordinating workloads and supporting team performance. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic job shop environment. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with MS Word and Excel.Proficiency with MS Access and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Crystal Reports or similar reporting tools. Additional skills and qualifications include: Experience working in a clean room or controlled manufacturing environment. Familiarity with 5S principles and maintaining a structured, organized work area.Experience maintaining logs, skills matrices, and other production-related documentation. Comfort working closely with management on hiring, training, and performance-related decisions. Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend changes to materials, equipment, and procedures.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in assembly, inspection, and documentation. Capability to respond quickly to changing priorities and production needs in a job shop environment. Why work here?
