Part-Time Lecturer Pool
POSITION
The Department of Biological Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Cellular-Molecular Biology Part-Time Lecturer Pool.
We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in the following subject areas:
General Biology (lecture or lab)
Introductory Cell and Molecular Biology (lecture or lab)
Intermediate Cell and Molecular Biology (lecture or lab)
Genetics
Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology
Advances in Biotechnology Lab (lab and discussion)
Microbiology (lecture or lab)
Molecular Virology
Cellular Neurobiology
Developmental Biology
Stem Cell Biology
Immunology
Cancer Biology
Plant Molecular Biology (lecture and lab)
Part-time appointment, usually to teach credit-bearing biology courses, in person, at the lower division level. Responsibility for a course will be vested in the lecturer, sometimes under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member. Teaching assignments may include multi-section coordinated courses, in which instructors must abide by all coordinated course policies, including the conditions contained in the general syllabi.
Duties will include the following:
Providing classroom instruction.
Preparing course materials and administering assignments to students.
Administering examinations, grading student work and otherwise assessing student performance, and determining course grades.
Holding scheduled office hours.
Attending all weekly lab preparatory meetings.
Participating in all class field trips, if applicable.
Completing all necessary trainings.
Attending Lecturers Meetings.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted once the positions are available
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Masters or PhD degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent experience.
Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level.
Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
Preference will be given to those with current and on-going full-time relevant professional experience.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions part-time faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement *******. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances, syllabi, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a three-unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,****** to $7,****** per semester.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT AND COLLEGE
The Department of Biological Science offers an undergraduate Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Biological Science and a thesis-based Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biology.
We are dedicated to educating the individual student using active-learning, inquiry-based approaches. The undergraduate curriculum provides all biology majors with broad exposure to fundamental biological principles and depth of knowledge within a specialized area of concentration chosen by the student. Our graduate degree prepares students for entry into Ph.D. and health-professions programs, research careers with governmental and non-governmental agencies and in the private sector, and teaching at the two-year college level.
