Job Title: Inspector Job Description
This role supports an aerospace manufacturer that specializes in cockpit security systems, lavatory equipment, flight controls, and interior and exterior hardware. The Inspector performs diversified inspection work across multiple product lines, using engineering drawings, specifications, and customer documents to verify purchased parts, in-process components, assemblies, and final deliverable units. The position involves creating first article inspections using AS9102 forms, conducting complex inspections with CMM equipment and standard gauges, documenting nonconformances, and maintaining accurate quality records.Responsibilities
Perform general inspection work in receiving, in-process, final, and shipping areas across multiple product lines. Conduct receiving inspection of purchased parts using engineering drawings, process specifications, material certifications, test reports, and customer documents to verify conformance.Create first article inspections (FAI) using AS9102 forms for detailed parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and final deliverable units. Carry out in-process inspections on multiple product lines to ensure parts and assemblies meet specified requirements. Perform final and shipping inspections to confirm that products meet all customer and internal specifications before delivery.Serve as a backup for equipment and tools management to help ensure calibration is maintained and inspection tools remain in proper working order. Take direction from the inspection lead for work assignments and seek guidance on technical matters as needed. Apply and follow all applicable inspection procedures and related work instructions, and recommend improvements when appropriate.Measure parts to verify dimensional accuracy using standard and special measuring equipment, including CMMs and precision gauges. Test units for conformance to specifications using measuring and test equipment as required by applicable standards. Approve acceptable parts by stamping or otherwise indicating acceptance and prepare all necessary documentation to record inspection results.Create Non-conforming Reports (NCRs) to clearly and concisely describe nonconforming conditions, identify responsibility for errors, and initiate NCRs for appropriate disposition. Scan quality certifications and documents into the EPICOR system on a daily basis to maintain accurate and accessible records.Work from engineering drawings, process specifications, customer drawings, and test procedures to perform accurate inspections. Maintain all required inspection records in accordance with established procedures and quality system requirements. Participate in training and development to become eligible to serve as an FAA ODA unit member.Perform other related duties as assigned to support the quality and production objectives of the organization. At least two years of experience performing inspection work in a manufacturing or similar environment. Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, process specifications, customer drawings, and test procedures. Good written and verbal communication skills to document findings and interact with cross-functional teams.Exposure to mechanical and/or electrical inspection techniques. Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, rulers, hardness testers, CMMs, levels, and radius gauges. Ability to perform complex parts inspection using CMM inspection equipment and other standard inspection gauges.Capability to create first article inspections using AS9102 forms. Ability to create and document Non-conforming Reports (NCRs) with clear and concise descriptions of nonconforming conditions. Competence in scanning and managing quality certifications and documents within systems such as EPICOR.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement, documentation, and record keeping. CMM inspection experience preferred but not required. Experience in aerospace manufacturing or a similar highly regulated industry. Familiarity with quality control practices and inspection procedures. Ability to recommend improvements to inspection procedures and work instructions.
