Job Title
Job Summary: Work with UTMB's Institutional Office of Regulated Nonclinical Studies to conduct a variety of non-routine research assignments and experiments in a high containment facility including BioSafety Levels 3 or 4. Job Duties: Plans, coordinates and directs complex research experiments following general technical procedures.Documents experimental procedures and outcomes. Performs quality control on study paperwork to ensure that it is complete and correct. Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected, compiles and tabulates data, provides analysis of results, and engages in long-range planning. Performs functions of research projects utilizing bio-hazardous substances in BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories.Performs technical services such as tissue sampling, blood draws, anesthesia and injections. Conducts research techniques as required by investigator. Establishes and follows specific protocols. Establishes and oversees quality control measures for assigned project operations. Contributes to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects.Orders and maintains lab inventory of supplies, animals and equipment. Maintains knowledge of biohazard operations. Adheres to internal controls established for department. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent. Five years of related experience with two years experience in a BSL 3 or 4.Or Master's degree in basic science or equivalent. Two years of related experience required, one year in a BSL 3 or 4. Salary Range: $63,077 - $90,000; Actual salary commensurate with experience. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion.
