Position Overview
Our client, a growing and highly automated food manufacturing company, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to help lead the launch and scale-up of a new production facility in Rockwall, TX.
This is a unique opportunity to join the organization during a major growth phase, with small-scale SQF production beginning in August/September **** and full-scale production ramping quickly thereafter, including a large molding operation by year-end.
The Maintenance Manager will play a critical role in building the maintenance function from the ground up — supporting equipment installation, establishing preventative maintenance programs, and developing a high-performing maintenance team.
This individual must be both a strategic leader and a strong technical contributor who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all maintenance operations for a highly automated food manufacturing facility
Support installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization of new production equipment
Build and develop preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability
Manage and mentor a small maintenance team of approximately 3–4 direct reports, with future team growth expected
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Food Safety teams during facility startup and expansion
Ensure compliance with SQF, food safety, OSHA, and GMP standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, and operational performance
Assist with spare parts management, vendor coordination, and maintenance budgeting
Help establish maintenance processes, KPIs, documentation, and best practices as the facility scales
Qualifications
5+ years of maintenance leadership experience within food manufacturing or a similarly regulated manufacturing environment
Strong technical expertise with automated manufacturing equipment and systems
Experience supporting facility startups, expansions, or greenfield operations strongly preferred
Hands-on troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Knowledge of SQF, GMPs, food safety, and preventative maintenance programs
Proven ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day floor support
