Laboratory Assistant

The Laboratory Assistant position is a joint-hire between the laboratories of Drs. Tigist Tamir and Chrystal Starbird in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UNC Chapel Hill. This is a support role in the lab where the individual hired for this position will help with lab maintenance tasks. While this position will offer great exposure to research, this is not a research position. Experience is not required for this position, although helpful, as we are willing to train the right candidate. The candidate will gain transferable skills in logistics of running academic lab organization and management. The Tamir lab studies regulation of metabolism in health and disease and the Starbird lab is broadly focused on studying the molecular mechanisms of disease. There is some overlap in areas of interest shared by the two labs in understanding receptor tyrosine kinase activation and signaling in disease.
