The Yin Lab within the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Cincinnati Children's is dedicated to advancing our understanding of liver development, function, and disease. Led by Chunyue Yin, PhD, the team uses innovative genetic tools and both in vitro and in vivo models to investigate the mechanisms underlying liver disorders, with a focus on inherited chronic intrahepatic cholestasis. By partnering closely with clinicians and genetic experts, the lab works to identify disease-causing genetic variants and develop targeted approaches to improve diagnosis and treatment for patients with rare liver diseases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform experiments and record data -
Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques. Assists in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Customer Service -
Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Lab Administration -
Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
Serve as a Resource -
Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills. Stay abreast of changes in key systems. Serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s).
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
or Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field
