Park Ranger / Maintenance Technician

The Park Ranger / Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting with park maintenance duties and assisting with the safety, security, and overall positive experience of visitors within City parks and trail systems. This position conducts routine patrols, enforces park rules and regulations, responds to service calls, and provides outstanding customer service to the public. The Park Ranger serves as a visible representative for the City of El Mirage and plays a key role in promoting a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly park environment. Please note this is a Part-time position (19 hours per week).FY26-27 New Hire Salary range: $21.25-$24.51 FY26-27 Salary range: $21.25-$29.75 This is a Part-Time position and will not be eligible for benefits. However, paid leave accruals are included in addition to the compensation package. Paid Leave: Vacation:

It is responsible for performing routine maintenance activities in an assigned area of responsibility, ranging from more basic grounds, equipment, and facilities maintenance to more advanced technical troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, plumbing, and irrigation systems. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the City's needs. Patrols and inspects parks. Performs Park security, monitors events, and reports unsafe conditions and vandalism.Respond to park-related calls for service and Ramada cleanup. Ensure compliance with City parks and trail rules and regulations. Establishes and maintains effective customer service with the general public and other city employees. Performs routine cleaning, grounds maintenance, or basic equipment repairs.Operates hand tools and light mechanical/electrical equipment. Inspects premises for safety and cleanliness; identifies repairs needed. Operates a motor vehicle to drive to work locations throughout the city. Prepares logs and records. Maintains compliance with safety requirements, applicable work methods, and procedures.Performs related work. KNOWLEDGE Standard practices, methods, and materials of assigned work. Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices. Methods of troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical or mechanical issues, as assigned. Use of and properties of supplies and equipment.Safe driving practices and the geography of the city. Maintaining maintenance logs and records. Basic math to calculate measurements, as assigned. Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations, as assigned. Customer service principles. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and 1 year of related (maintenance) experience or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.Certifications/Licenses: Arizona Class D Driver's License. First aid/CPR/AED Certification within 6 months of hire. Safety Sensitive Assignment(s): Park Ranger CONTINUING EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry and within the specified timeframe. ADA INFORMATIONExerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Requirements: The following physical activities are essential to the performance of the job: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions.Work Environment/Conditions: Primarily working outdoors with occasional time spent in a vehicle, and exposed to dangerous physical and atmospheric conditions, extreme temperatures, and environmental hazards.
