Location: Zeeland Christian School Summary: The Visual Arts Teacher provides a wide range of opportunities for students so they may develop an interest and ability to express themselves visually and creatively in artistic ways, utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the student's interests and abilities. Teaches students to develop and understand art appreciate and teaches students how to discover and develop their individual talents in the field of visual arts. This is a shared time teaching position and will be teaching Art to grades 1-5 and 8 at Zeeland Christian School.

Responsibilities: Teach knowledge and skills in art, printmaking, drawing, painting, ceramics, paper art and sculpture. Provide instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts and appreciation for art. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Controls assigned district-owned equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse. Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program. Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. For the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.Evaluate pupils' academic growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. Display student art work in buildings and art shows.Qualifications:

Current Michigan teaching certificate with an Art endorsement is required. Current K-12 Visual Art Education degree preferred. Spanish language skills preferred. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Involvement with visual arts professional groups.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Schedule: School Year .40 FTE
