Job Title: General Secondary Operator Job Description This role supports high-precision manufacturing of CNC-machined surgical instruments and implants by operating a variety of tools and equipment, performing detailed finishing work on metal parts, and maintaining strict quality standards. The position works on 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and focuses on deburring, buffing, polishing, cleaning, and minor cosmetic repair of components used in medical devices.Responsibilities Operate a variety of motorized and hand tools and machines to support high-precision machining and finishing processes. Monitor and control the quality of machining processes by utilizing process control tools and following established procedures. Maintain production processes within defined quality standards and efficiency targets for the product line.Visually inspect parts for minor defects such as blemishes, minor scratches, and other cosmetic imperfections. Perform established finishing functions to restore parts to optimal condition, including deburring, buffing, cleaning, and polishing using various equipment. Deburr metal parts to meet established optimal quality standards.Buff metal parts to achieve specified cosmetic standards required by the customer. Polish metal parts using lapping machines and other methods to restore brilliancy and meet cosmetic requirements. Clean metal parts using established wash procedures to ensure they meet cleanliness and quality expectations.Apply paint in small specified areas of metal parts using motorized equipment, following defined instructions. Perform data collection and communication tasks in Epicor and other applications as required to document work and process information. Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and housekeeping standards.Participate in continuous improvement activities and use accepted tools such as brainstorming, cause-and-effect analysis, and tool tryout sheets. Read and interpret manufacturing instructions and technical documentation, including blueprints, to perform tasks accurately. Use measuring tools such as metric scales, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and gauges to verify part dimensions and quality.Follow all safety procedures while working near moving mechanical parts and electrically activated devices. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned to support production and quality goals. Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Proven manual dexterity for handling small parts and performing precise finishing operations. Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, potentially on a frequent basis.Ability to stand on feet for ten to twelve hours per day while using hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Strong communication skills to talk and hear effectively in a manufacturing environment around machinery. Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, including the use of microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators.Comfort working safely near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices, with occasional exposure to airborne particles. Ability to perform data entry and basic navigation in systems such as Epicor or similar applications.
