Job Description:

As a Java Developer, you will be part of the development team, contributing to an industry-leading trading platform. This role focuses on identifying performance bottlenecks at the code level, optimizing system performance, and enhancing the overall user experience. You will work across the full stack, including native client-side performance, mobile applications, and backend services, collaborating with the Performance QA team and key stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with strong analytical skills and expertise in designing and developing high-performance, multi-threaded systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop high-performance Java applications in a distributed environment, ensuring scalability and resilience.

Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for enhanced efficiency.

Work with the Performance QA team to execute test runs, stress system capabilities, and fine-tune performance.

Design and develop simulation tools, mock services, and custom tooling for performance testing.

Implement and monitor key performance metrics, ensuring system reliability and responsiveness.

Optimize both client and server-side performance, including JVM tuning, garbage collection, and memory management.

Collaborate with architecture teams to design scalable solutions and improve system performance.

Provide solutions for production monitoring and establish a performance and scalability roadmap.

Troubleshoot concurrency, multi-threading, and distributed system challenges to maintain seamless operations.

Work closely with product partners, support teams, and technical leaders to align development efforts with business objectives.

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

5+ years of experience in Java, J2EE (client and server-side), Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.

Strong expertise in distributed systems, real-time processing, and messaging systems.

Experience working on high-volume, desktop-based trading systems in a financial services environment.

Proficiency in SQL and relational database query optimization.

Solid Linux background with hands-on experience in shell scripting.

Deep understanding of concurrency, multi-threading, and data structures.

Experience troubleshooting JVM issues, including thread dumps, garbage collection, and memory management.

Knowledge of resiliency implementations such as Circuit Breakers, Load Balancers, and Failover strategies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate alternatives and provide effective solutions.

Experience with DevOps, build automation, and performance monitoring tools.

 

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
