About the Role
The Company is seeking a Managing Director for International Engagement to play a pivotal role in elevating subnational climate leadership on the global stage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization's international strategy, leading year-round engagement with priority countries and multilateral institutions, and overseeing flagship international activities.
This role demands a seasoned expert with a deep international network, strong political acumen, and a proven track record in international climate policy or diplomacy.
The Managing Director will also be tasked with team development, management, and operations, as well as partner engagement, and must be a strategic problem solver with an outcomes-focused mindset.
Applicants for the Managing Director position should have at least 10 years' of experience in international climate policy or diplomacy, with existing relationships in the international climate system.
Familiarity with subnational governments' work on climate is strongly preferred.
The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to lead and manage teams, and a passion for climate action with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The ideal candidate will be a do-er, an experienced collaborator, and a strategic problem solver, capable of navigating complex partnerships and driving the organization's international agenda.
Professional fluency in English is expected, and additional language skills may be beneficial.
The role also involves regular international travel, including extended periods around major global events.
