Learning Lab Science Instructor - Jackson County Campus
Position Information Job Title - Learning Lab Science Instructor - Jackson County Campus Job Duties - Provide instructional assistance in all areas of science and in other related areas as requested. Provide tutoring to students on an individual basis or in a small group or workshop setting. Develop materials that can be used by students in the Lab or made available to students via the Learning Lab web site or through Canvas. Maintain a 35-hour workweek in the Learning Lab on a flexible schedule to include day and/or evening hours as assigned by the supervisor. Foster coordination and cooperation between the Learning Lab and the faculty from the School of Science&Kinesiology and other various content-related college programs. Attend all faculty meetings as requested. Adhere to College policies and procedures relative to the operation of the Learning Lab. Maintain appropriate documentation for evaluating the Learning Lab activities. Participate in the acquisition of instructional materials and supplies required in the lab. Participate in the planning and evaluation of the Learning Lab. Accept the responsibility for other related activities, duties, and schedule as assigned by the supervisor. Must be able to work additional (overload) hours as needed. This includes day, evening, or weekend hours. Must be able to teach courses within the School of Science&Kinesiology, if needed. Meet all Employee Development requirements. Demonstrate competency in technology. All other duties as assigned. Classification Title Position Number - 499906 Rank - Instructor Job Description - The Learning Lab instructor's primary responsibility is to provide tutoring services to all students needing assistance in all science courses taught on campus, to include biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, botany, physical science and astronomy.Mandatory Qualifications - A minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a science field with an emphasis in the biological sciences, chemistry, or physical sciences or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in a science field. Teaching and/or tutoring experience in science. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Familiar with basic internet, email, and word processing usage.Desirable Qualifications - Doctoral Degree in the biological sciences, chemistry, or physical sciences, or Doctoral Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in a science field. Knowledge of the basic principles of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics.
