PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to support a leading aerospace and defense contractor in the design and analysis of tooling fixtures. This role focuses on static and dynamic structural analysis of assembly jigs, lifting fixtures, and other tooling required in a high-precision aerospace fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in FEMAP/NASTRAN and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes for metallic and composite materials. This is a six month contract to hire.
Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis (static and dynamic) on tooling and fixtures using FEMAP/NASTRAN
Support the design of aerospace tooling including assembly structures, lifting jigs, composite dies, drill fixtures, and machine attachments
Analyze engineering designs and materials for strength, durability, fatigue, and safety
Prepare and review engineering reports, present findings clearly to technical teams and management
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure tooling meets manufacturing and structural requirements
Interpret and validate engineering drawings and specifications per ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards
Support fabrication by incorporating manufacturability considerations into design and analysis
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 3+ years
Proficient in hand calculations and FEM techniques for stress analysis
Working knowledge of CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred)
Experience with metallic and composite structural materials
Familiarity with engineering fabrication practices and shop-floor integration
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specs
Strong communication and technical documentation skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance and Program Special Access
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering (PE) License (California preferred) or in progress
Hands-on experience in aerospace tooling design or analysis
Familiarity with tooling mechanics, stress analysis for jigs and fixtures
Active DoD Secret Clearance with current investigation (within last 5 years)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
