POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Engineering Manager will lead a team focused on improving manufacturing processes, optimizing production efficiency, and ensuring equipment reliability. This role is key in driving continuous improvement initiatives, overseeing new equipment implementation, and supporting cross-functional teams to enhance quality, compliance, and productivity.

This position requires a hands-on leader with expertise in manufacturing line modifications, automation, process improvements, and production quality enhancements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about lean manufacturing and operational excellence.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

Process Optimization & Efficiency

Lead a team to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and increase output without compromising quality.

Analyze production processes to identify automation opportunities and implement lean manufacturing improvements.

Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and high performance.

Equipment & Technology Management

Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, proposing modifications and repair solutions to minimize downtime.

Work with the maintenance team to implement preventative maintenance programs for equipment longevity.

Oversee the evaluation, selection, and integration of new equipment to improve production capabilities.

Project Management

Manage capital projects, including facility upgrades, new equipment installations, and production line expansions.

Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure successful project execution.

Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while meeting production goals.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Partner with the Quality Control team to ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and industry standards.

Investigate and resolve production issues, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement plans.

Lead root cause analysis efforts to eliminate defects and maintain product quality.

Actively participate in CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) meetings to address production deviations.

Team Leadership & Development

Mentor and lead a high-performing team of production engineers.

Provide coaching on process improvements and problem-solving.

Conduct performance reviews, set objectives, and support professional development.

Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and collaboration.

Production & Cross-Functional Support

Serve as the engineering liaison between Production, R&D, and Quality teams to ensure alignment.

Provide real-time support during troubleshooting and process deviations.

Optimize workflow coordination across multiple shifts to enhance efficiency.

Partner with Planning teams to improve scheduling and capacity planning across production lines.

Safety & Environmental Responsibility

Ensure all engineering and production activities meet environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Collaborate with the Safety Department to conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols.

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar); Master’s degree preferred.

7-10 years of experience in production or manufacturing engineering, with at least 3-5 years in leadership.

Hands-on experience in automation and process control systems.

Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering design tools.

Industry Knowledge:

Experience in vitamin, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical manufacturing is highly preferred.

Bonus: Experience in soap or chocolate manufacturing.

Technical & Leadership Skills:

Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and quality systems related to food or drug manufacturing.

Problem-solving mindset with experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Proven track record in project management, including capital projects and new production line implementation.

Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

A large percentage of the time is spent in the production area where noise level can be moderate to high

Duties are performed primarily in a smoke-free office and manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at the assigned desk area.
