The Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of New Yorkers, with a particular focus on those in need. Its philanthropic priorities include education, culture, and social services in New York City; autism, special education, and related services; healthcare, including mental health; and limited support for the Stony Brookarea community./ppThe MJS Foundation also provides management support to three additional foundations: the Nick Simons Foundation (NSF), Nick Simons Foundation International (NSFI), and Foundation for a Just Society International (FJSI). Through service agreements with MJS, the Office Operations Intern will support all program, administrative, and grants management operations of MJS, NSF and FJSI./ppThe Simons Foundation is an affiliated organization of the MJS Foundation and shares the same founders./ph3Position Summary/h3pThe MJS Foundation administration team is seeking an intern interested in learning about the day-to-day operations of a small nonprofit foundation. This role offers hands-on exposure to office operations, facilities management, event support, vendor coordination, and basic accounts payable functions./ppThe Office Operations Intern will work onsite in our offices in New York City. The expected schedule is Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with one-hour unpaid lunch break). This internship is expected to run from June 1 until August 13, 2026./ph3Essential Functions/Responsibilities/h3pReception
Front Desk Support/pulliAnswering the Foundations main phone line and directing calls appropriately/liliCoordinating guest arrivals and notifying hosts/liliGreeting guests and directing them to meeting spaces and restrooms/liliPreparing conference rooms for meetings and lunches/liliOrdering meals for meetings/liliReceiving deliveries and sorting incoming mail/liliPreparing outgoing mail and scheduling courier pickups/liliMonitoring office, pantry, and supply inventories and placing orders as needed/liliLiaising with cleaning crews when necessary and monitoring work quality/li/ulpGeneral Office Support/pulliMaintain a clean and professional appearance of common areas/liliOperate office equipment (printers, copiers, scanners, audiovisual equipment)/liliAssist with basic equipment troubleshooting and coordinate vendor repairs/liliEscort vendors and service providers as needed/liliSupport conference room scheduling and setup/liliAssist with internal communications, including emails, memos, and reports/liliSupport planning and execution of onsite and offsite Foundation events/liliCollaborate with colleagues and assist where needed/li/ulpFinance
