Parent Liaison
Serves as the liaison between school and parents, relaying the needs of one to the other; ensures that parent involvement regulations are met with meaningful and strategic actions to build parent capacity; advises and trains parents on how to address issues with the leadership staff in school meetings; serves as a school-based intermediary contact for concerns and comments made by parents and community members; provides referrals for community-based services for families dealing with conditions that impact the academic achievement of their students; promotes sharing of power with parents as decision-makers; helps parents understand the educational system so they can become better advocates for their children's education; maintains parent resource center.Education: Associates degree from an accredited college or university, preferred Experience: A minimum of one year of work experience in a school-based setting. Qualifications: Experience serving as an advocate for children and parents; excellent communication and organizational skills; strong public speaking and presentation skills; self-motivated leader who can work independently as well as part of team; strong interpersonal skills; strong knowledge of computers and fundamental technology; understands and respects the diversity of families' economic, linguistic and cultural background and situations; ability to host parent meeting off school site and in the local community and/or neighborhoods; ability to speak eloquently to school and/or district leaders; ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.Major Duties&Responsibilities: Instructional Program Management Assist with Parent Involvement and Parent Participation Activities Assist with organizing and implementing support services for parents and students Assist with parent involvement training sessions to help parents work with their children at homeAssist with compiling materials and create files for documentation of compliance with Title I parent involvement components Communication Provide monthly tips, strategies, and ideas to parents Ask parents to evaluate parent involvement workshops and trainings Survey parents to assess the effectiveness of the school's parent involvement programEncourage parents to attend school-sponsored functions such as back-to-school night and parent-teacher-conferences Develop a program and information brochures designed to empower parents as advocates for their children at school and during parent-teacher conferences Community Relations Support the RYSs parent center at the school with information about parenting, community resources, school information, and policy, curriculum, etc.Establish a parent shelf in the school office or library, where parents can pick up free materials or check out written and/or audio-visual materials on topics of interest to parent Application Procedure: Apply Online
