Lauderdale County Board of Education Florence, Alabama To provide students with high-quality instruction, hands-on training, and industry-based learning experiences in Precision Machining aligned with Alabama Career and Technical Education standards. The instructor will prepare students for employment, postsecondary education, industry certifications, and workforce readiness in machining and advanced manufacturing careers.Qualifications
Minimum Entry-Level Qualifications Applicant must meet one (1) of the following requirements: Associate's Degree in Precision Machining Technology or a related field NOCTI Precision Machining (5176) Certification NIMS Turning I Between Centers NIMS Turning I Chucking NIMS Milling I NIMS CNC Mill OperationsNIMS CNC Lathe Operations NIMS Measurement, Materials,&Safety Certification NIMS Manual Milling Skills I Certification Approved military machining experience Master-Level Qualifications Applicant must meet one (1) of the following requirements: One of the approved Master-Level Occupational Proficiencies AND One of the following NIMS Level II certifications:NIMS Turning II Between Centers NIMS Turning II Chucking NIMS Milling II NIMS CNC Mill II NIMS CNC Lathe II OR Approved military machining experience AND Complete all required state-recognized professional learning requirements Performance Responsibilities
The Precision Machining Instructor shall: Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in precision machining, CNC operations, manufacturing processes, and related technical skills. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Alabama Course of Study standards and career technical education requirements.Teach safe operation and maintenance of machining tools, CNC equipment, precision measuring instruments, and manufacturing systems. Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications, including NIMS and NOCTI credentials. Maintain an organized, safe, and clean instructional environment that complies with local, state, and federal safety regulations.Supervise students in laboratory, shop, and work-based learning environments. Integrate employability skills, leadership development, teamwork, and workplace professionalism into instruction. Utilize current technology and industry-standard machining practices in instructional delivery. Maintain accurate records including attendance, grades, inventories, certification data, and student performance documentation.Establish and maintain partnerships with local business and industry representatives to support career technical education initiatives and workforce development. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, advisory committee meetings, and required school events. Assist students with career planning, apprenticeships, postsecondary opportunities, and job placement.Maintain active industry credentials and remain current on developments in machining technologies and manufacturing practices. Follow Lauderdale County Board of Education policies, procedures, and expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Career Technical Education Director, or Superintendent.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of precision machining, CNC operations, manufacturing systems, blueprint reading, and technical measurement Ability to instruct and supervise students in classroom and laboratory/shop settings Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and manufacturing safety procedures Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with school personnel, industry partners, and community stakeholders Ability to manage equipment, inventories, and instructional materials effectively Terms of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Lauderdale County Board of Education salary schedule and applicable state regulations. Employment is contingent upon verification of credentials, certifications, and background clearance requirements. Additional Job Functions:
