Description
The Department of Psychiatry at Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine is committed to understanding the symptoms and neurobiological basis of mental illness and advancing psychiatric treatments through extensive involvement in basic and clinical research and patient care. The department is also involved with educating and training future leaders of psychiatry and behavioral science.

Job Summary

The Communications Intern's primary responsibilities will be to contribute to grant-funded projects focused on trauma, adolescent substance use, or other mental health related concerns and/or increasing access to mental health services.

Department-Specific Responsibilities Develops digital content (social media, website) Supports training and learning events Assists with development of project materials Attends outreach initiatives (tabling events, etc.). May include additional task opportunities based on interests and project needs, including data entry, assisting with data analysis, literature searches, etc.Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

Experience with marketing, communications, and/or social media management for a group/organization Graphic design experience SKILLS

Required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professionalism Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills Ability to cultivate and maintain productive working relationships Detail-oriented and dependable, with ability to work under minimal supervision Strong computer skills in all Microsoft office programsWillingness to learn new online or software programs Interest in and/or understanding of major issues in mental health, health disparities, and community-based research Excellent social media skills to support our community outreach efforts to disseminate evidence-based information about youth trauma and mental healthPreferred

Familiarity with psychology/social science research and mental health-related topics Additional Information

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Work Hours

Approximately 10-15 hours per month

Hours are flexible Monday through Friday during regular business hours
