About this Role:
Irby Construction Company, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking a Director of Operations – Distribution with deep experience in the power utility construction industry.

 

This role will be based out of Richland, Mississippi, and will require regular travel throughout Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana to support regional projects.

 

*Will require relocation / permanent location to be in Richland, MS*

 

As Director of Operations, you will lead Irby’s Distribution Group, overseeing multiple crews and ensuring that project execution meets the highest standards for safety, quality, and performance. This role requires strong expertise in job pricing, production tracking, and the successful delivery of projects.

 

The ideal candidate is a goal-oriented, highly driven professional with a proven track record in operational leadership within the utility construction sector. A commitment to safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement will be essential to success in this position.

What You'll Do:
Lead and manage Irby’s Distribution Group, ensuring efficient, high-performing field operations.

Oversee production across multiple distribution crews, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Develop, estimate, and support the execution of distribution construction projects.

Ensure compliance with FP&L contract requirements and operational expectations.

Drive crew performance, resource efficiency, and project execution to align with company goals.

Responsible for P&L for the Distribution Group.

The recruitment and retainage of leadership and crews.

What You'll Bring:
Proven leadership in distribution construction management.

Extensive experience in distribution line construction required.

Strong financial acumen, including experience managing projects.

Demonstrated ability to accurately price, plan, and manage distribution jobs.

Highly goal-driven with a strong focus on operational efficiency and performance.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
