Job Summary:
CMM Operator/Inspector is responsible for performing inspections of components at receiving inspection utilizing various metrology hand gages and equipment and running (CMMs) coordinate measurement machines (selecting correct programs, setup of fixtures to run parts, calibration and running programs to facilitate the parts inspection process for our internal customers. Additionally, this role drives data collection, reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Inspect samples per documented specifications
Record inspection results
Follow inspection procedures to measure engineering requirements
Coordinate the flow of inspection samples based on priority
Analyze data to determine trends in inspection history
Perform inspections using mechanical gauging as required
Diagnose minor issues and adjust CMM programs to run parts
Develop inspection procedures to measure engineering requirements
Lead Advance Gauge R&R studies
Lead employee quality training programs and communications
Train and mentor lab personnel on techniques for the CMM
Utilize bridge and portable CMMs (Romer Arm, Faro Arm, etc)
Proactively engage in the process to assist in ensuring processes are continually effective
Convert PPAP programs to Receiving Inspection programs
Creating custom programs from existing programs
Identify appropriate gauging needed to measure engineering drawing requirements
Visually identify sample status
Assist in cost reduction opportunities and design change suggestions
Addressing Non-Conformance
Identify and contain nonconforming material
Create and communicate Nonconforming Material Reports
Identify Corrective Action Opportunities
Identify and communicate Engineering Change Request (ECT) opportunities
Support Department Initiatives
Investigate, document and resolve minor issues related to the CMM
Support cross-functional team projects
Identify quality improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and design change suggestions
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum 1 year experience operating a CMM
Minimum 1 year experience utilizing a variety of mechanical gaging or comparable manufacturing experience
Proficient at reading drawings
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in measuring components and reporting
Ability to work independently and as a team
Strong analytical skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to train other and modify training to accommodate learning preferences
Demonstrated ability to interpret drawing specifications
Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PAPP)
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Level of Independence:
This position act under the direction of the Quality Supervisor or Manager
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel
