Essential Functions
Process owner of Total Productive Maintenance
Establish goals, objectives and targets.
Update Management Review Trend Charts both internal and Corporate
Ensue that the processes are delivering their intended outputs.
Report on the performance of the process and on opportunities for improvement at Management Review
Lead Improvement projects and activities as they relate to Maintenance
Process owner of Environmental
Ensure that the Environmental Management System conforms to the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard
Ensure all regulatory obligations relating to carrying out operational duties are completed in consultation with the Environmental Management System as required by the relevant certificate, regulation or permit
Monitor environmental waste streams (air, water, oils etc.) and take action to remediate concerns
Manage Contractor Controls (subcontractors) to minimize severity or frequency of accidents or Environmental impact.
Establish goals, objectives and targets.
Update Management Review Trend Charts both internal and Corporate
Ensue that the processes are delivering their intended outputs.
Report on the performance of the process and on opportunities for improvement at Management Review
Manage environmental waste streams (air, water, oils etc.) and take action to remediate concerns
Lead Improvement projects and activities as they relate the EMS
Participate in Other Improvement projects as assigned, when assigned attends Improvement Meetings
Plan staffing needs, supervise and direct all maintenance activities and assist where necessary.
Plan, schedule, assign and review all preventive and preventative maintenance activities to ensure all equipment meets manufacturer and safety specifications.
Address concerns with the Production Manager and maintenance staff in advance of the issues becoming costlier or requiring prolonged shutdown
Supply reports to the Plant Manager as required on repair jobs including consumption of tools, materials, man-hours and skills
Ensure housekeeping, productivity, and quality of work standards are maintained, and most especially within the mechanical maintenance department
Ensure the smooth running of the building to include repairs, lighting, electrical systems, maintain plumbing system, alarm system, fire extinguishers, HVAC and with approval hire subcontractors for larger matters
Ensure the smooth running of the grounds and landscaping to include repairs, grass cutting, snow removal, fence repairs, and pest control, and with approval hire subcontractors for larger matters
Maintain spare parts inventory
Member of the Safety Committee and Emergency Action Team Leader.
Performance Evaluations
Member of multidisciplinary team for APQP.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
High School or Vocational School graduate plus formal apprenticeship training or equivalent
Special trades courses in electrical principals and other trade basics
Minimum of 4-8 years experience of practical knowledge in maintenance/mechanical repairs
Prior experience in steel/aluminum industry preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills and basic knowledge of arithmetic.
Self-motivated, self-directed and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Capable of handling multiple activities at the same time.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership skills such as decision-making, training, motivation, and problem-solving.
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.
Flexible with working overtime as needed.
Must adhere to all company policies, including attendance.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in a heavy industrial steel processing and distribution plant. When on the plant floor the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be appropriately worn. This position also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, ascending/descending stairs, and climbing as well as, frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Extended hours, nights and weekend work may be necessary based on business needs.
Travel
This position requires no travel.
