Fractional CFO - ERP Implementation, Michigan

Our client is a trusted provider of industrial press repair and maintenance services with a long history of success in the field. They are seeking a Fractional CFO to lead and recover a challenging ERP implementation and streamline financial operations. This is a part-time, on-site role ideal for a seasoned finance leader with hands-on ERP expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and troubleshoot the current Acumatica ERP rollout, assessing gaps and optimizing workflows.

Work with internal stakeholders to streamline processes, unify data sources, and improve system usability.

Overhaul formatting, reporting, quoting, and payroll/hour tracking systems to align with modern practices.

Escalate and manage the performance of the third-party ERP vendor.

Support internal staff and guide the hiring of a permanent Finance Manager.

Recommend and implement financial automation and reporting improvements.

Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on financial operations and strategic planning.

Skills/Requirements:

Proven experience leading ERP implementations (Acumatica preferred but not necessary).

10+ years in finance leadership roles with strong experience in transformation projects.

Expertise in financial process improvement, reporting automation, and system integration.

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel-based workflows, and transitioning from legacy systems.

Experience in construction, manufacturing, or job-costed industries is a plus.

Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Ability to work on-site at least part-time to gain operational understanding and build team alignment.

Comfortable mentoring legacy team members while modernizing systems and workflows.

Location: Lansing, MI (on-site, potential for hybrid flexibility over time)

Duration: 6–9 months

Schedule: Part-time, estimated 2–3 days/week
