Maintenance Technician
This position is responsible for improving, maintaining, and repairing manufacturing and distribution equipment by troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems. The role includes installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities
Support and execute plant maintenance strategies to achieve operational performance goals Partner with Maintenance Management to plan and adjust maintenance activities based on production schedules and priorities Perform maintenance on utility systems including water treatment, refrigeration, boilers, HVAC, ammonia systems, chilled water, and compressed air systemsAssemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring and equipment Perform routine and emergency maintenance in a multi-craft environment (mechanical, electrical, PLC, instrumentation) Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and ensure timely completion of work orders Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance recordsFollow all regulatory, safety, GMP, SQF, LOTO, and Lean Manufacturing requirements Oversee contractors as needed Lead, train, and support Maintenance Level 1–3 technicians Provide troubleshooting support for complex mechanical and electrical systems Support Maintenance Manager duties in their absence when requiredMaintain "200% safety accountability" for self and others Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required Certification in electrical, instrumentation, mechanical maintenance, refrigeration, ammonia operation, or waste treatment operations Completion of formal apprenticeship or journeyman/master certification Mechatronics certifications (Levels 1–7 preferred/completed)5–7 years of hands-on manufacturing maintenance experience Experience in food manufacturing environment preferred Strong knowledge of GMPs, SQF, LOTO, and Lean Manufacturing principles Proficiency in mechanical and electrical systems troubleshooting and repair Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematicsExperience with ammonia, HVAC, refrigeration, and utility systems Skilled in preventive maintenance programs and use of electrical testing equipment Proficiency with MS Office and standard business tools Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and cross-functional teamsMichigan Mechanical Contractor License (required if performing or supervising mechanical contracting work as defined under Michigan LARA regulations; must be obtained or maintained if required by scope of work or business operations)
