What You Will Do
The Panel Design Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of designers in the execution of control panel design projects. This includes overseeing daily workflow, reviewing design tickets for completeness and compliance, and serving as the point of contact for coordination with project teams. The Supervisor ensures resource allocation is optimized, project deadlines are met, and all designs maintain the highest standards for quality and safety. Additionally, the Supervisor plays a critical role in mentoring team members, supporting career development, and driving innovation and continuous improvement in tools, templates, and standards.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
Scheduling and Resource Allocation: Assign design tickets based on designer workload, availability, and expertise. Update PDG schedule calendars and adjust timelines to meet project demands.
Panel Design Quality: Ensure adherence to panel design standards including UL508a, UL698a, and customer-specific requirements. Participate in developing, documenting, and training these standards.
Designer Support: Provide daily support, mentorship, and training to in-office and remote designers. Equip teams with tools, templates, procedures, and work instructions.
Project Team Support: Collaborate with project teams to clarify panel design requirements. Ensure communication is maintained throughout the design lifecycle.
Production and QC Collaboration: Quickly resolve issues raised by Production or QC, ensure changes to design standards are communicated and understood.
Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements, innovation, and team development initiatives.
Designer Development: Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and development plans. Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Minimum five (5) years of experience in control panel design, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of UL508a, UL698a, NEC standards, and experience in interpreting customer specifications.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical (5+ years), MS Office, Adobe Pro and/or BlueBeam. Experience with ePlan is a plus.
Certificates and Licenses:
Certificate of Completion for UL508a & SCCR course required within the first year (provided by Prime Controls).
