Summary:
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of high-value shipper accounts within a freight brokerage environment.
This role focuses on long-term customer partnerships, revenue growth, and delivering optimized transportation solutions across multiple modes.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned strategic accounts
Develop and execute account growth plans to increase revenue, margin, and share of wallet
Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts (lanes, modes, services)
Monitor and analyze account performance (KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost, and service levels)
Collaborate with internal teams (carrier sales, operations, customer service) to ensure service excellence
Proactively resolve service issues and provide continuous improvement recommendations
Stay informed on market trends, capacity conditions, and pricing fluctuations
Solve problems proactivelycapacity issues, service failures, cost optimization
Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while maintaining profit margins
Source and secure carrier capacity for open freight shipments
Manage daily load coverage to ensure all shipments are booked and executed on time
Maintain accurate load and carrier data in TMS systems
