Contract Insurance Defense Associate

LHH is partnering with a wellregarded boutique litigation firm seeking a Contract Insurance Defense Associate. The successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience in civil litigation, demonstrating expertise in prepping trial documents, pleadings/motions, discovery, document review, arbitration, and deposition experience.

Responsibilities Draft demurrers and prepare responses to pleadings (highvolume, quick turnaround).

Conduct contract and statute analysis; draft research memoranda with clear, practical recommendations.

Draft, review, and revise legal documents including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, motions to strike, discovery requests/responses, and pretrial motions.

Manage case strategy collaboratively; track deadlines and deliverables; attend occasional inperson work sessions if local.

Support discovery (drafting/answering discovery; meetandconfer correspondence) and hearing preparation as needed.

Appear for hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings as required (frequency expected to be limited given parttime scope).

Communicate regularly with supervising attorneys and relevant stakeholders to keep matters moving efficiently.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Active California Bar and good standing preferred (required for demurrerheavy pleadings practice)

Minimum 3 years of litigation defense experience with strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

Demonstrated proficiency in dispositive and procedural motion practice (e.g., demurrers, MSJs, oppositions)
